Optimist Sailing

The Optimist is a small, single-handed sailing dinghy intended for use by young people up to the age of 15. It is one of the most popular sailing dinghies in the world, with over 150,000 boats officially registered with the class. Optimists are sailed in over 120 countries and it is one of only two sailboats as an International Class by World Sailing exclusively for sailors under 16. Optimists are a great way for children to learn to sail.

Program

Please be informed that all junior students are required to pay an annual enrollment fee of $125 upon applying to participate in the program. This fee covers the cost of registration, materials, and access to the sailing facilities.

The enrollment fee is due at the time of acceptance and is non-refundable. It is valid for one year from the date of payment.

 

Our Optimist Sailing Program offers two distinct programs tailored to different skill levels. The Learn To Sail program is designed for beginners, providing a solid foundation in sailing fundamentals. For experienced sailors seeking to enhance their racing skills, our Race program offers advanced training and competitive opportunities​
